Summer Fashion Trends: Peplums

Hello everyone, I've found a space in my day for blogging today which I'm very pleased about! Before I start I just want to say a huge thank you to Stephanie from Moreemilk for her feedback on my blog because it means a lot to me knowing I can ask her advice on how to improve!

Today I thought I'd write a feature piece on a particular summer trend so I picked the Peplum trend as I've seen it surrounding me in various shops just recently. Peplums were first in fashion back in 1947 when Chrisitain Dior launched his first collection of 'House of Dior' which went down in fashion history as the 'New Look'. It included many staple fashion trends and a Peplum was one of them. They obviously drifted out of style once many other designers had the chance to produce a similar range of clothing. 2012 saw the return of the Peplums and to my surprise they come in every shape and size you could imagine possible!

Whether you want a full smart Peplum dress like this pretty pastel one. Priced at only
£14.00, you can find it here...

Or a casual yet smart pretty Peplum top,
such as this lace design one. £30 at River Island

Next, Peplum skirts I knew they existed but I never thought they would come in a modern type of range as
well as the mature office type pencil -

Pencil Skirt: £22                               Modern mini: £15

Last but not least, a very summery and stylish playsuit. Again I never thought it would be possible to incorporate a peplum into a playsuit but the name has a ring to it!

Here is a lovely peplum playsuit in black from River Island at £35, the peplum adds gorgeous curves to your body even if you aren't naturally gifted with them. That's something you definitely want to show off in the summer months. You can also dress it up or down, perfect! Find it here...

My thoughts:

After researching Peplums and finding out about the different styles that are out there that can appeal to any age I am rather eager to purchase a piece of Peplum clothing for my wardrobe.

Another thing that made me more willing to try one out is because my favourite celebrity Amanda Holden wore one last Friday when presenting on the TV show Lorraine. It looked stunning and was from Kelly Brook's clothing collection for New Look, I was very happy to find that out! Here is an image of Amanda wearing the dress in question and you can buy it here for just £18 in the sale, result!

Thank you for reading and I really hope you enjoyed
