Charity shops, in my opinion, are definitely not places that should be looked down upon and I think since the recent recession, many others would agree with me. Me and my family love nothing more than finding a bargain in a charity shop, whether it be an item of clothing or a pair of shoes - we do buy things from retail shops too but there is a great pleasure in saving a lot of money and getting something that you love, whilst also giving to charity at the same time.
I could ramble on for a long time about this and perhaps if you would be interested, I will in a whole other blog post... However, this was not intended to be a written debate regarding society's judgement on charity shopping, it was in fact supposed to be showing you two absolute bargains that I was lucky enough to pick up from two separate charity shops in my local town - and they are actually beauty related too. I would just like to point out that these two products are brand new and have not been used previously by anybody else, that wouldn't be very pleasant if you ask me! Anyway, I guess this post is just a way of me trying to show you what you could find if you were to give these shops a chance.
The first item I spotted on a shelf was a face cleanser by No7 for just £1. For me, there is no way that I can justify spending £9 on a skincare product, not since I haven't started working yet - so seeing this made me quite excited to try the No7 range as I have wanted to before and this has given me the chance to at last.
The next product that I found in a basket on a shelf (on the same day!) was a MAC Dazzleglass. I guess you could say that my current budget doesn't allow for these high end make-up brands, however this is my second MAC product - the first was secondhand too! I couldn't believe that this lipgloss was priced at just 50p and when I looked at the shade 'Get rich quick' I was apprehensive as to whether I would wear a colour like this on my lips because it seemed quite rich but I decided to buy it anyway. When I got home I tried it out and it was a nice sheer gloss with sparkle running through it, so pretty! These retail for around £12 I think...
I guess the point in this post was just to show you that charity shops definitely are not perceived in the same way they used to be, many thought that they were just full of old people's clothes (I admit, some of them were and still can be) but a majority of them are really good. What could you find?
Thanks for reading
